The academic year is divided into two terms. Normally, the autumn term runs from mid August  to mid-January, and the spring term mid- January beginning of June. Classes are not usually scheduled between Christmas and the New Year, or on Swedish national holidays.

Autumn semester  (Quarter 1 and quarter 2)
Examinations take place during the last week of each quarter.

Spring semester (Quarter 3 and quarter 4)
Examinations take place during the last week of each quarter.

Academic calendar 2004/2005

Exchange students for the academic year 2004/2005 should arrive in Luleå mid- August to participate in the orientation.

Exchange students arriving in August are encouraged to join the annual August orientation programme planned for first year students. During this time upper class students have a complete programme for all newcomers including orientation to student life and lots of parties. A Swedish intensive course for beginners is offered during the orientation programme. It is offered free of charge to all exchange students.
