The fourth international conference on the subject of hot forming of high performance steel held 9 to 12 June 2013 in Luleå, Sweden, the place where the technology press hardening was invented and industrialized. As a result of three previous conferences organized in the subject of hot sheet metal has a conference series has become an important meeting place for people interested in this emerging technology. The conferences provide the opportunity to meet and present and discuss the latest research findings and developments in the international arena.
The demand for hot sheet metal forming technology is steadily increasing and we are now experiencing an unpreceded growth in a variety of applications, mainly in the automotive sector. The research in hot forming processes, micro-structure micro-structure evolution, deformation, failure, thermal properties and issues such as tailored material properties, coatings, heat transfer, high temperature tribology, is intense and a strong research community has been developed. This fourth international conference will reflect the continuous progress in research and development that has already been highlighted in the previous conferences since the start in Kassel 2008. The scientific and industrial community will be further strengthened and the results and developments from the growing international research programmes will be presented. As the previous conferences, CHS2 2013 will be the focal point for progress in the field of hot sheet metal forming.
