
In connection with the celebration of Luleå University's 40th anniversary in 2011 was appointed four jubliee alumni. An alumnus for each of the University's ten years was awarded jubilee alumni. Approximately 30,000 students have graduated at Luleå University since its foundation in 1971. The award was presented by the Vice-Chancellor Johan Sterte and the two former Vice-Chancellors Ingegerd Palmér and Torbjorn Hedberg.
Elisabeth Nilsson (70's) is a qualified mining engineer (M.Sc. in geoteknologi, graduation 1976) at Luleå University of Technology and has worked at SSAB Strip Products in the catalog, was CEO of SSAB Merox, and production manager in charge of Metallurgical Unit at SSAB Oxelösund where she was also part of the management. She was named 2005 CEO of Jernkontoret. Elisabeth has also served on the Board of Administration. 2007 she was elected as Member of the Engineering Sciences. March 11, 2010 she was appointed by Government to Governor of Östergötland.
Lars-Eric Aaro (80's) is President and CEO of LKAB, a Swedish high-tech minerals group, which produces iron ore products, and other mineral products. In LKAB has worked on several items, most recently as Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing. Previously he worked at the Boliden Group where he held various positions as Mine Manager at Aitik copper-gold mine and later as head of the lead-zinc division. He has also worked at Outokumpu Mining Group as Head of Viscaria copper mine. Lars-Eric Aaro is a mining engineer with a master's degree from Luleå University. He is an honorary doctorate at the university and he is a member of the ICU, Engineering Sciences.
Karin Thörnqvist (90's) took an MSc in 1990 in Mechanical Engineering. She became nationally acclaimed when she worked as a consultant in the multi-million dollar project "Measuring 09" for Gothenburg Energy. Karin became increasingly critical of how the project was run and after a while, she warned the company management and said that Göteborg Energi not received what you paid for, because the project manager is suspected of going suppliers cases, in doing so, she revealed a part of a major bribery scandal. 2006 she started her business QTE Törnqvist AB, a consultancy for the "Quality Time and efficiency projects."
Per-Ludvig Normark (00s), founded after his graduation in Civil Engineering Computer Engineering in 2001, he founded, along with other alumni and students from LTU, the company Nordnav who then resold for millions. Then he founded since 7igroup where he currently is the CEO.
