Application and Admission
The application procedure may vary depending on whether the student is applying within a programme such as ERASMUS, NORDPLUS or ISEP or within an exchange agreement between the home university and Luleå University of Technology. In either case an Online Application Form must be filled out and submitted. In addition a printed copy of the online application together with obligatory enclosures must be submitted through the student exchange programme coordinator at the home university.
The student exchange coordinator should note that students will only be accepted on condition of a prior contact with the International Office at Luleå University of Technology.

The Swedish academic year comprises two semesters and runs from the beginning of September to late December and the beginning of January to the beginning of June (not including Orientation Programme).
Note! The application deadlines refers to our receivment of a complete application not just the submission of the online application form.
A complete application consist of a printed copy of The Online Application with photo, a Proposed Study Plan/Learning Agreement, a CV with statement of purpose, a copy of passport/photo ID and a Transcript of Records including full details of previous and current higher education study. The Online Application Procedure
- Create a personal account in the Application Portal (link below)
- Fill out all sections of the application
- Submit your online application
- Print the resulting PDF application document
- Sign it and put a photo on the first page
- Hand your signed application document together with the necessary enclosures to the student exchange programme coordinator at your home university

Obligatory enclosures
The following documents must be enclosed in order for us to process the application!
- Proposed Study Plan/Learning Agreement* (duly signed)
- Transcripts of records (signed and authorized by home institution)
- Information about courses that you previously have taken and presently are attending within the discipline for which you are applying to Luleå University of Technology (only applicable if you apply for courses with prerequisites)
- CV with statement of purpose
- Copy of passport or other similar photo ID
- Documents confirming special needs – if needed
- Music Cassette or CD (obligatory for Music students)
Before filling out your Proposed Study Plan/Learning Agreement you must read the instructions under Study information. Please note that for admittance you must fulfil the specific prerequisites for the courses that you are applying to. To be able to follow a course, a good command of the language in which the course is taught is essential. It is very important that you use the NEW version of this form found on this website.
Admission
Exchange students will be sent a Letter of Acceptance as an email attachment upon admission to Luleå University of Technology. You will be assigned an academic advisor by the time you receive The Letter of Acceptance. Course choices are finalised immediately after admittance to the university is granted. Your academic advisor then pre-registers you for the courses.
