Facebook and LTU are nearest neighbors
Facebook chose to make it's first European establishment next to LTU. An important common denominator between Facebook and Luleå University of Technology is all about talent.
That the university is established in Luleå close to Facebook was highly valued as a reason for their establishment according to the Norrbotten Governor Per Ola Eriksson.
- I can say that without LTU Facebook had not been in Lulea. Luleå University of Technology is the most important investment that occurred in Norrbotten in modern times, he said in his inaugural lecture given an honorary doctorate.
It was for a little less than a month ago that Facebook, while visiting Lulea, confirmed that it establishes itself in the city.
- We have investigated options around Europe, and after an extensive process, we concluded that Luleå had the best overall solution, with a climate suitable for natural cooling, access to clean energy, good soil, Luleå University of Technology and a skilful and committed business climate , said Tom Furlong, head of start-ups at Facebook
