Here we aim at answering your most frequently asked questions about studying at Luleå University.

What are the admission requirements for master’s programmes?
Minimum requirements for eligibility include earlier studies from an internationally recognised university, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree at a British university. The university has to be listed in the latest edition of the International Handbook of Universities/World List of Universities or Other Institutions of Higher Education.
Applicants must also prove that they have a very good command of English, both written and oral. The applicant must also satisfy the special requirements applying to the different programmes.

Do I need to take an English test?

If you have not completed Swedish upper secondary education, skills in English should be attested by means of an international language test. There are some exemptions from this, such as if you have studied at University in a country with English as the official language. Do I need to attach working experience?
Your working experience is only relevant if you have been working in the same field as the programme or course you are applying for.

Can I send in documentation after the application deadline?
1 February will be the last day for submitting documents. If you send them after that date, your application will be considered as a late application.

Can I send my application via e-mail or fax?
Applications sent by e-mail or fax are not accepted. You must fill in the on-line application form and send the rest of the documents by regular mail to the address given at Universityadmissions.se

How can I find out about the status of my application?
You can follow the status of your application at "Your pages" at Universityadmissions.se. Questions about your application after you have applied, such as if your documents has arrived and when the admission notifications will be sent out will be answered by Universityadmissions.se.

When should I arrive?
Students who have been admitted to a Master programme at Luleå University should arrive in time for the Orientation programme. At the Orientation programme you will receive important information about studies and student life at Luleå University. The Orientation programme usually begin about a week before the beginning of the semester. At the latest you should arrive when the semester begin.

When does the academic year start?
The academic year consists of two semesters. The dates for the academic year 2012/2013, autumn semester: September 3 - January 20, spring semester: January 21 - June 9.
