Johanna Grimståhl-Creative Project Manager and partner at More Media & More Event

Education at LTU Media Design in the years 2003-2006

What are you working on today and how has the way to the job been like? What do you think was the key to me you got the job?
The same day I took my bachelor's degree was the wagon to Stockholm and a great company, Humble Storm Event & Communications. I think an important part of why I got the job was that I had firsthand knowledge of one of its biggest customers, Telia. Earlier this also bought into shape services when needed and the company saw a way to grow by hiring a graphic artist. I stayed at Humble Storm in 4.5 years and learned enormously from my talented colleagues, an inspiring manager and customers with high demands. My position evolved during these years and when I stopped, I had a shared services as a designer and production manager. At Humble Storm, I had the privilege of working with large companies and clients such as Microsoft, Vodafone, Halebop, Intel, Samsung and HP.

Over the years, Stockholm was born our son and homesickness for catalog grew stronger. In February, to end the wagon back and I started working on more media. An exciting and young company with high ambitions. The main difference compared to my previous job, was that all colleagues were male. It was a challenge and conversion but we hit it off very quickly. Another big difference was to work exclusively with the Web, I came of course from the event world. But everything has a purpose. After a few weeks, we received an assignment that required a product launch, bingo! One thing led to another and this autumn we are starting up more event and I will be partners. It turned out that the knowledge More Media has around digital media and productions was an excellent combination of events.

Do you have any tips for those who want to work on similar tasks?
When you work in web and events you have to be responsive and catch the inspiration, everywhere. It's like a kind of lifestyle to always keep your eyes and ears open. A small detail can provide ideas for large projects.

What was the best part of studies at the university?
Media Design in Piteå houses in really nice rooms with all necessary utensils that may be needed. The teachers came directly from industry and one of them is currently a subcontractor to us.

Do you have any advice to future students?
If I would have done if something in my education I had chosen to settle in Piteå, in the place of training. I luleå girl, basically, and chose to stay in my former home and commute. Had I lived closer to school I would probably read the more activities and military activity.

What are your results from your training today?
Media Design was a broad education and I got an insight into many different areas. Everything from design and copywriting for TV production. Event, which I work with today, is to find a nice mix of different channels.

Finally, how do you see the future?
Right now it feels very exciting to embark on their very own project, to start up a company and become shareholders. It's all or nothing at stake and I will give everything!
