Entry requirements

General entry requirements, second cycle

Specific entry

Knowledge in acoustics corresponding to either Sound and vibration (L0008A), Architectural acoustics (L0009A), Mechanical vibrations (M0015T) or Vehicle dynamics (M0019T).

Course Aim
The student shall know how to independently carry out
• experimental modal analysis measurements for determination of dynamic parameters of vibrating structures
• sound intensity measurements
• schematic statistical energy analysis substructuring of a vibrating system
• independently plan, perform and report experimental testing.

Contents
Advanced measurement and analysis techniques for auto and cross correlation, coherence and frequency response function analysis.
Fundamental statistical energy analysis.
Experimental modal analysis including determination of modal parameters.
Measurements of operative deflection shapes.
Sound intensity measurements for sound power and radiation characteristics measurements.

Realization
Lectures and demonstrations including theory and treatment of applied problems. Laboratory exercise and hand in task. One project that practically illustrate the theory including how to solve a specific problem of experimental nature. Project will be used to demonstrate the theory and give training on the measurement techniques.

Examination
Written exam, laboratory, hand in task and project. The project includes an oral and written presentation.

Examiner
Fredrik Ljunggren - Senior Lecturer
