Basic business administration 1-30 hp or equivalent.


Course Aim
The goal of the course is for the student to be able to develop knowledge and abilities in the area of the international business environment and how business organizations act in this environment.
After passing the course the student shall be able to:
- describe the different components of international business environments and how they influence business organizations active in the international market
- describe strategic considerations for business organizations active in the international market
- Analyze problems in the international business environment utilizing a scientific approach
- Design and carry out a written report where a problem in the international business environment is considered and relevant conclusions/recommendations are developed
- Give an oral presentation of the content of a written report

Contents
The course considers introductions to:
- international business activities in theory and practice
- the international business environment and its institutions

Realization
Lectures/lessons, seminars, team assignments and case studies. The course contains project work in contact with business sector, business sector based cases and guest lectures from the business sector.

Examination
A written (midterm) exam is used in order to evaluate students’ ability to understand the components involved in international business environments that are introduced in the course.  Quizzes and/or other participation exercises and assignments are completed at various times throughout the term in order to evaluate students’ to ability to discuss and defend international business decisions and demonstrate their understanding of the material presented in the course. A final team project evaluates their ability to work as a team to analyze and develop a written, international business report that utilizes these environmental factors and allows them to discuss strategic considerations for an actual company/brand/organization.

Remarks
Students must register for the courses themselves, or contact ETS educational administration eduets@ltu.se, not later than five days after the quarter commences. Failure to do so can result in the place being lost. This rule also applies to students with a guaranteed place.

Due to similar content, the course can not be included in a degree together with the course M0007N or other courses with similar content.
