N0008N Introductory microeconomics (7.5 ECTS), N0004N Advanced undergraduate microeconomics (7.5 ECTS), N0009N Introductory industrial organisation (7.5 ECTS), N0005N Applied mathematical economics (7.5 ECTS) or equivalent courses.


Course Aim
Students shall after completing the course:

- have a good understanding of different market structures and how these markets function.
- have an advanced understanding and knowledge to analyse different markets and their price determination.
- have a comprehensive understanding regarding different strategic choices that firms can make in order to affect the market outcome.
- be able to read, understand and implement scientific articles.

Contents
The course is an advanced course in industrial organisation (or industrial economics) and covers topics within imperfect markets. Different oligopoly markets are analysed and compared to monopolies and competitive markets. In addition, market power is defined and analysed as well as different strategies affecting market structures such as price discrimination, marketing, mergers, investments, capacity utilisation and technical change.
