Lillemor Johansson has commenced semester 2 on Bachelor Programme in Health Guidance, Major Health Promotion. She tells of her experiences of trials, challenges and she also gives some advice to prospective students.
The benefits of distance learning is the ability to get to study interesting topics while there is a lot of freedom to other interests such as. training. Several in-class work while studying. I'll just have to plan my own arrangement with responsibility. Since the majority of lectures and seminars are network-bound, so it requires only computer and connection. Many books on the reading list, I have been able to borrow at the library.
For me, it took some years before I found this kind of education that felt right for this long and most likely will in the future also. So far we have learned about the human complex structure and function, personal training, nutrition, the topic of health promotion work in practice and right now we are working on stress management and relaxation. Something that is always as up to date and interesting to learn about how people function as a whole and with others. In addition, we had the opportunity to learn about ethics in working with people.
We have had many tasks such as reflection reports related to the literature, but not packed with scheduled times or compulsory lessons. From the beginning, one can consider how contact will be with your classmates. However, I find that the flow of information and cooperation has proceeded better and better with time. The biggest challenge for me has been to write documents together in a group through the computer. So you have to look for new ways of cooperation and to find solutions over problems, as the word health promotion can stand.
Advice to future students is to just take it easy on the technical piece does not fall into place at the beginning or at the new torque. Using e-mail, video and telephone conversations to talk with classmates is something I recommend to use as much as possible. It's great to meet you in real life too of course, if possible. Otherwise they can get, but intense inside weeks when the whole class gathered on the campus to be good for cohesion. Study comrades are very useful and helping and sharing each other's knowledge and experience.
