Space has always fascinated man. New discoveries and space travels are made in the solar system, information from satellites deepens our understanding of climate and the human impact on Earth.
New insights, techniques and materials often have their origin in space research. Curiosity is the drive. It's also the curiosity that attracts students to our five-year engineering program in space technology.
The Master of Science program in space technology is for those who want to research and develop new technologies in space. You can learn how to build satellites, research on space and atmospheric physics and participate in projects such as may involve trips to Mars. You can study and do your thesis work abroad and you have good opportunities for graduate education in the appropriate space area after your exam.
The program gives you a broad knowledge in mathematics and physics as well as in-depth expertise in many space-related fields. Areas that are reflected in the program's three specialisations: aerospace, instrumentation, space and atmospheric physics and aeronautics. Two of the focuses, spacecraft and instrumentation, space and atmospheric physics, is given in Kiruna. For aeronautics you'll spend one year in Kiruna and then the remaining years in Luleå.
The thesis is a strong asset when applying for a job and often takes place at a company or organization where the student has continued his och her career.
