Since 1977 Luleå University of Technology has offered a 7 month long period of in-practice training
Today, as in the past, the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural resources engineering works actively to:
Among the companies and public authorities receiving trainees and developing the 7 month training period, are Railway Administration Authority, Boliden, BDX, JM, Municipalities, Surveying office, County administrations, LKAB, MAF, NCC, Nåiden, Peab, Ramböll, SA Englunds, Skanska, Sweco, Vattenfall, Road Administration Authority, WSP, etc.
The training period is thus performed at construction and consulting companies, with the public authorities and municipalities on building work above the ground in material factories or in mining installations during a 7 month long period, from June to December in the 4th academic course year.
The students have the opportunity to meet companies and projects that offer practical training vacancies during “Praktikkvällen” in the middle of February.
The student is responsible for finding a vacancy for his/her practical training, however if need be, the department could help in this regard. After applying and making personal contacts with companies and representatives of organisations, the student should get a training position which implies that it is a salaried position of employment. Refer to the document “Letter to Supervisor” below.
Further information about the 7 month training period can be found in the documents.
If you choose to do your internship abroad, you can sometimes find an Erasmus Scholarship for training in the EU / EEA. For more information on placement abroad, please contact:
