Second cycle
Degree of Master (Two Years)
Selection D
Often planners and projecting professional groups have deficient knowledge of shaping urban environments and buildings to better stand climate conditions. This two-year international university programme leads to a M.Sc. Degree in Architectural Engineering, with specialisation in Climate Sensitive Urban Planning and Building .
The study programme offers a comprehensive knowledge of climate issues in a global perspective, more detailed knowledge about regional and local climate in landscape and built-up areas. It also offers planning and building in cold climate and some about heat climate. The programme also presents knowledge in planning and building that decrease strains on global climate as well as planning and building for climate conditions supporting both indoor and outdoor living all seasons. The teaching is based on competence and experiences from existing research at LTU, mostly the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering. As the knowledge I usable both for cold and heat climate can the entire world be your working place. All teaching is in English.
The main part of the programme presents climate sensitive planning and building and the linking of those. Through the electable courses in the programme give possibility for a specialization for either:
Climate Sensitive Urban Planning and Design – planning and design of urban projects adjusted to seasonal climate and climate changes. Applying the knowledge to applicable solutions in spatial planning and urban design.
ClimateSensitive Building- planning and managing building projects adjusted to seasonal climate and climate changes. Applying the knowledge to applicable solutions to practical solutions in architecture, buildings and built-up areas.
The knowledge given by the master programme is requested from various fields of labour: National and regional agencies, local authorities, consultancies, etc. both nationally and internationally.
Some courses are coordinated with the existing programme in Architecture Engineering at LTU. For more information of that programmehttp://www.ltu.se/edu/program/TCARA
