About me
WORK SUMMARY
Currently I am mainly involved in two research areas, space plasma physics and free-surface MHD flows.
The aim of the space plasma research is to increase the understanding of the interaction between the solar wind and the terrestrial magnetosphere. One of the main goals is to understand how the solar wind plasma can enter into the magnetosphere. The space plasma research is in collaboration with IRF in Kiruna and is a part of the Swedish National School of Space Technology.
In the free-surface MHD flow project liquid metal flows typically occuring in metallurgical processes, such as horisontal belt strip casting and galvanisation of steel strips are considered. Especially the effects of application of DC/AC magnetic fields to improve the quality of solidified strip in these processes are investigated.
I am also program director of the aeronautical engineering program at the university.
I am teaching several undergraduate courses:
- Computational methods in mechanics (MTM126)
- Electromagnetic field theory (MTF105)
- Waves, plasmas and antennas(MTF108)
- Aerodynamics (MTM458).
