ESST Environmental Science with Space Technology
This is a first anouncement of a new bi-national programme that will start in the autum of 2011. It is a German-Swedish Master study programme in 'Environmental Science with Space Technology' (esst). It is a two year study programme and you will receive a double degree from both universities. Courses are of course in English.
You will be taught in English by expert scientists and staff from the Institute of Environmental Physics (IUP) at the University of Bremen, Germany in co-operation with the federal Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany and from the Luleå University of Technology, Sweden.
Our activities in esst encompass various areas of research that span from atmospheric sciences, remote sensing, electronics to space technology. In this international postgraduate programme, you will have the opportunity to learn experimental methods in environmental science and space technology as well as numerical data analysis and data interpretation.
Curriculum:
The first year of the programme you will spend in Bremen following courses mainly focused on the scientific parts and somewhat on technology mainly in electronics. The second year starts at LTU in Kiruna here the focus is mainly on the technological parts of the programme. The fourth semester consists of a master thesis work, which can be carried out in one of both universities – depending on the focus: Environmental Science or Space Technology.

perform research in the field of environmental science as a scientist, work for space agencies, governmental institutions on environmental matters and pass on your knowledge as a teacher.
