In the academic world funds are to a significant degree distributed depending on previous performance. Nowadays it is important for both universities as well as individual researchers.
Bibliometrics is used to measure performance and focuses on the amount of publications and citations. How are different systems for bibliometric based distribution built? What is rewarded? What are the effects?
What does all this mean for the researcher's choice of publishing strategy?
