They call around to this year's newcomers

12 students at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) devotes part of their summer to call around to this year's applicants who have been adopted for studies at LTU. It is about to establish a first contact, give a little advice, answer questions, and welcome newcomers to the autumn semester.

- I hope to provide lots of information about the courses I studied and also to convince those who will begin studying to stay here, because I think it's great to study here at LTU and then I will of course spread it to all new students, said LTU student Willhelm Rendahl.

He is one of twelve students who will call around to those who have been admitted to studies in the fall. Willhelm Rendahl, which until recently has been Lulea Student Union President, has been studying at LTU for 5 years, the first technical base year and then training Arena Global Resources. Charlotta Jönsson is a fully qualified preschool teacher and now works as admissions administrator at the university. Although she is one of the "round rings."

- I will call those who have applied for teacher training and the mission's to motivate them to come and begin their education. I will tell them how fun it is to study and how it was when I moved up here and I really do not want to leave this place because I feel so at home in Lulea and at LTU, she says.

While applicants for Luleå University of Technology will receive notification that they have been admitted to studies at the university, the student group will begin their summer job. It begins with a text message sent to all admitted on the morning of the day they will be called.

- Text message we send to them to be mentally prepared when we call. We assume that it takes one to one and a half weeks to call everybody and then we sit between ten and twelve hours a day and make between 200 and 300 adopted per person, says Charlotta Jönsson.

The telephone contact is to greet students welcome at Luleå University of Technology and to multi-year studies at the university's various campuses. Another important information given is that the adopted should say YES to their place, in other words, to respond to the admission. What is important to immediately put theirself at the waiting list is another useful information provided, and the earlier in the queue, the better chance to get a good home.
