Meet a post graduate student - Moa Vennergrund
Moa Vennergrund took her husband, dog and cat, and moved to Piteå when the possibility of a PhD student came along.
The Research topic is media and communication science and the research question that will guide the Moa through the next five years is that of the field of cultural journalism from a rural perspective.
-It may seem offensive to regard Norrland as rural, but this is from a culture of journalistic perspective, where everything starts from Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. They are the center, the rest is peripheral, says Moa.
Rural media place
There are relatively little research in the interdisciplinary field "Communication Geography". There, the overall issue is dialectical: How communication produces space and how space produces communications. But the room referred to is the city and Moa Vennergrund intend to study the countryside, hence she has more contact with side genre Rural media place.
-I will examine if and how cultural journalism constructs Norrland and vice versa. This in a description of how culture journalism actually is rather than fall into the normative and say how it should be, says Moa.
