Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering

Humanity faces enormous challenges in the areas of: energy & raw materials, environmental, water & food, health, pandemics, demography and security. CENE is focused on meeting the majority of these challenges through education, research and innovation to contribute to the development of a sustainable society and a better world for us today and for future generations.

Mining, construction and environmental research is gathered at the department. The Department has an exclusive and successful collaboration with industry and the public sector, including visibility by about 70% of our research is externally funded..

Our department is characterized by a well-developed international cooperation with countries in all continents. We have a strong experimental and applied profile with many labs. In year 2013-14 we will improve and develop our lab environment.

 We are about 350 people, including approximately 200 PhD students and 50 professors, and some 50 nationalities. You will find us in C-and F-houses on campus in Luleå
