Anneli Hedstrom, Sanitary Engineering, get over 5 million SEK over four years for the project "Renovation of aging sewer networks - Improves the environment and health, or waste of money?" The project comes from Research and development for young researchers.

The Departments of Civil, Environmental and Natural resources engineering, Engineering Sciences and Mathematics and Business Administration, Technology and Social Sciences have together been allocated 10 million SEK for the research project Attract. Commercial products related to cold climates and urban transformation in Kiruna and Gällivare be developed within the project financed by VINNOVA.
Professor Bo Björkman get three million SEK from MISTRA for a project in which researchers from Luleå and Umeå together to develop the use of residues from the steel industry in the manufacture of cement. The project is led by the University of Umeå. The total project budget is 9.1 million of which 6.4 million come from Mistra. Partners from industry, Cementa AB, and SSAB Merox.

Ramin Karim, Operation, Maintenance and Acoustics, has been granted € 580,000 under FP7.FoF.NMP for research in eMaintenance. The total project budget is: 4 800 000 €.
Ramin Karim, Operation, Maintenance and Acoustics, in collaboration with ProcessIT Innovations has received funding from Vinnova (in the Challenge Driven Innovation) for the development of an innovative industrial platform for eMaintenance. The total project budget is around 15 000 000SEK which Vinnova support lies at 7000 000SEK.
Senior Lecturer Helena Johnsson , Division of Structural and Construction Engineering, is granted 1 370 000 SEK from Formas research for the "Platform Organization of the renovation process." The money is part of a 33-million investment in research focused on sustainable refurbishment, renovation and renewal of buildings from 1950-1975.

Within the project Innovative technologies and concepts for the sustainable and intelligent deep mine of the future (I2Mine), Jenny Greberg, Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, have been granted 6.623 million SEK for the work in WP2 and Erling Nordlund, Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 7.433 million SEK for the work in WP3. The project runs until November 2015 and is funded by the EU's 7th framework program.
Technical Acoustics, in collaboration with Volvo Cars received funding from Vinnova / FFI (Automotive Research & Innovation) at 7 million to the subject over four years. The theme is "3D Design and placement of information and warning sounds for added safety and comfort and strengthening of the brand."

Bo Björkman, Process Metallurgy - Boliden has signed a new five- year R&D contract with Luleå University of Technology worth 17 MSEK. The funds are aimed at research and education in the field of Process metallurgy including the extraction and recycling of base metals.
Lisa Dahlén, Waste Technology, has been granted 205 000 SEK from LKAB's Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Education at the university. The appropriation will be used for enhanced recruitment of students to the Natural Resource Technology, focusing ores, minerals, environment and water.

2011
Christian Maurice, Luleå University of Technology, the SEK 175 000 for research into better technology to reduce environmental impacts of mining waste into lakes. It is Sweden's Engineers, which awarded this year's environment awards totaling 1.6 million. Nine research teams and 22 students from Luleå to Lund got to share the 1.6 million SEK.
Pär Weihed, Ore Geology, has by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs beebn approved funds of SEK 250 000 for a feasibility study of the prerequisite for establishing a Nordic master in ore geology and exploration techniques.

Formas is investing in ALICE - Attractive Living in Cold Climate
Formas handing out 200 million to strong research groups in the country. Of the 92 applications received were granted eight groups of 25 million each. ALICE is one of those.

Peter Rosander and Charlotta Johansson, Traffic Engineering, is the Transport Administration received 183 930 - for participating in the project "Lighted Winter". The project will carry out an experiment with light signs of plow trucks with a view to improving road safety and the level of information to road users in winter. The tests will be conducted in Jönköping and Hudiksvall on roads with double lanes in the same direction.
