Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics
The Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics is a factually wide institution with many successful research groups, recognized education programs and appreciated teachers. We have an intensive cooperation with companies and industries in both research and student projects.
We conduct research in 19 research areas and in 6 centres of excellence. We have research in areas such as wood, composites, metals, mechanics and energy. We deal with issues such as processes in gasification and combustion, or how to optimize designs for performance and production.
Among are engineering programs are Sustainable Energy Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. We have an international program in Materials Engineering and among our newer programs are Bachelor of Science in Power Engineering. The good cooperation with the industry provides students an opportunity to work with sharp project tasks in their education.
