At LTU prominent scientists work together from traditional mining research topics ore geology, geophysics, rock engineering, geotechnical engineering, mineral processing, process metallurgy and applied geology with researchers in fields such as chemistry, industrial production environment, operations and maintenance engineering, fluid mechanics, geotechnical engineering, economics and statistics.

European major investment into deep mining

For four years, ten European countries cooperate on research on the major challenge for the mining industry - the deeper mines. This is the most comprehensive European research project that is geared directly to the mining industry. The project I2Mine has a budget of 25,414,022 Euro - Luleå University takes a leadership role.
