Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering

Luleå University of Technology is the leading university in Europe in mining engineering and metallurgy.

The research team Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering was formed on 1 January 2005. The research group consists of the former departments Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, Swebrec (Swedish Blasting Research Center) and the Center for Rock Aggregate Research. The research group is part of the Department of Geoteknologi (GEO) within the Department of Infrastructure Planning and Natural Resources (SBN). The research team is responsible for all education and research in rock mechanics, rock engineering, mining engineering and aggregates at LTU.

The research team led by Professor Erling Nordlund.

We give some twenty courses in LTU's various programs.
