New gasification project ”Pressurized Entrained flow Biomass Gasification”

Together with Energy Technology Center in Piteå, the division of Energy Engineering will carry out research in the area of entrained flow gasification of biomass. The objective is to demonstrate conversion of wood based biomass to high quality syngas, suitable for production of renewable biofuels, such as Methanol and Dimethyl ehter (DME).

New gasification project ”Pressurized Entrained flow Biomass Gasification”

Together with Energy Technology Center in Piteå, the division of Energy Engineering will carry out research in the area of entrained flow gasification of biomass. The objective is to demonstrate conversion of wood based biomass to high quality syngas, suitable for production of renewable biofuels, such as Methanol and Dimethyl ehter (DME).

The project time is from 2009-2012, the total budget incl contstruction work and research is approx 2.6 million € (3.8 million US$) and is funded by the Swedish energy agency, Sveaskog, IVAB and Smurfit Kappa. Contacts at the division are Martin Stenberg, Marcus Öhman and Joakim Lundgren.
