Performance of environmentally efficient cements and concretes with high level of Portland cement replacement (fly ash, blast furnace slag, fine quartz filler) is tested in full scale tests in the USA. Concrete casting is one big contributor to green house gases. By replacing the standard cement with EMC (Energetically Modified Cement), emissions are reduced with up to 50%.
In cooperation with the US Road Administration (Texas Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration) industrially produced pavings with 50% replacement of OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) by EMC Pozzolans have been studied and demonstrated significantly improved durability and reduced cracking, so the concrete is not only more environmentally friendly but also stronger.
