Peder Lundkvist, PhD in Quality Technology and Engineering at Luleå University of Technology, has taken his licentiate degree after two and a half years of research in Production Botnia. The purpose of the research is to contribute to increased process knowledge within process industry in Norrbotten and develop various statistical methods.

New employee at Quality Technology

Quality Technology enhances the crew by hiring the LTU student Henrik Petersson. Henrik is studying Business Administration with focus on quality development and will initially be helpful with Quizz-correction on K0014N Introduction to Lean.

Bjarne is to start research at LKAB

Bjarne is one of sixteen recipients of the Strategic Research Foundation's "Strategic Mobility." Bjarne to will for three years work as a visiting researcher at part time at LKAB and will be studying and provide assistance during the experiments carried at the plants. The plan is for Bjarne to apply for leave of absence for part time (45%) for two years and instead take up work at LKAB .

Quality Management, now and in 20 years

Jacob Hallencreuz, LTU, and Henrik Eriksson, Chalmers University of Technology, have initiated a discussion among Swedish Quality Management scolars through workshops on how we look at Quality Management today and on our outlooks for the coming 20 years. Why is Quality Management composed the way it is, and how do we believe the subject will look like in 2031? Workshops have been held at Chalmers University in Linköping, and in the beginning of October 2011, the turn had come to Luleå.

Björn Kvarnström defended his PhD

On november 24th Björn Kvarnström defended his doctoral thesis "Traceability in Continuous Processes - Applied to Ore Refinement Processes". Professor Josse De Baerdemaeker from Katolieke Universiteit Leuven acted as opponent.
-I was nervous before it started but now I can finally address myself doctor, says Björn relieved afterwards.

Erik Vanatalo's dissertation awarded!

Erik Vanahatalo did during the academic ceremony together with Jens Hardell, Machine Elements receive Norrbotten Research Council prise in Curt Boström's honor. Pia Sandvik Wiklund, who is Chairman of the Norrbotten Research Council presented and handed over the award.
