Global Comparison of Volcanic-hosted Massive Sulphide (VMS) Districts
This project is IGCP-502 in the International Geoscience Programme of UNESCO and IUGS. Currently we have 215 project participants from 43 countries. The main project areas are shown on the world map (first page of this website and in the "study areas" section).
The aim of the project ”Global Comparison of Volcanic-hosted Massive Sulphide (VMS) Districts” is to study and compare a number of the world’s important VMS districts in order to define the key geological events that control the distribution and timing of high-value VMS deposits; and thereby develop new criteria for locating these ore deposits.
