Luleå University of Technology invites you to the 3rd International Tribology Symposium of IFToMM in Luleå, Sweden March 19-21, 2013
This Symposium will cover the topical themes of tribology including: Friction, wear, lubrication, lubricants, tribology in hostile environment, tribomaterials, solid lubricants, surface engineering, tribotesting, tribological design and optimisation of machine components, modelling in tribology, biotribology, micro/nanotribology, Tribotronics, tribology in power generating systems, metal working tribology, tribology in rail and road transport.
A Young Scientists forum and a High Temperature Tribology Workshop have also been planned in conjunction with the Symposium. The details of these events will soon be available on the Symposium webiste.
The tribology research at LTU is mainly carried out at the Division of Machine Elements (ME). The Division is amongst the World’s leading tribology research groups. It has played a leading role in various National research programmes such as HiMeC (SSF), Interface (SSF ProViking) and Swedish Resarch Council (VR) and actively participated in several EU programmes (COST 532, VTI and Marie Curie Actions etc.). The Division is also coordinating the Swedish Research School in Tribology.
Situated in the north of Sweden, 150 km south of the Arctic Circle near the Gulf of Bothnia. The summers are warm and sunny. Winters are cold with lots of snow. Skiing, skating, ice-hockey and driving snow mobiles are typical sports during the month of March. Gammelstad Church town, a World heritage site is also located here.
