Welcome to the biotribology and orthopedic materials research group
Our research group is part of division of Machine Element (ME), department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics at Luleå University of Technology.
With focus on clinical challenges and multidisciplinary approach we undertake innovative research focused pioneering solutions and education in the fields of medical devices and regenerative medicine, translating novel and modern engineering solution into practical clinical applications.
Our expertise is in the area of Biotribology “bone and joint disorders and diseases, dental applications and orthopedic materials development”
The bone and joint diseases and disorders are global, multidisciplinary and collaborative area of research. The goal is to promote and implements health initiatives all around the world.
Close collaboration between orthopaedic surgeons, biologists and engineers is essential in order to achieve success with the challenging future of joint replacements.
Biotribology:
Biotribology is the knowledge and understanding of wear, friction, lubrication, surface; their motion and behavior in biological environment. Our goal is to increase the understanding and develop better and more reliable orthopedic implants, in order to achieve better functionality and increased longevity of the particular component or system.
Biotribology research group was established in 2009 at LTU. We have close collaborations with other universities both in Sweden and internationally as well as industries. Bellow you may find more detailed information about our research activities
