Practiced based Architect, Designer, Researcher and Educator Mania Aghaei Meibodi is PhD candidate of Architecture at the LTU. She explores the architectural potential of the use of digital technologies in design, engineering and manufacturing that mediate the relation between form, matter, structure, flow and force to radically transform the design and construction of buildings and the built environment. Mania’s aim is to find the better solutions for design and construction of our built environments by systematic investigation of design and making, making. She consults the design conception and making, with why and how things work in nature of the specific site.
Mania is the founder and main tutor of Design & Making (D&M) studio, given in Luleå University of Technology, and pursues her PhD in the Architecture group at department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering, LTU. She has been published internationally, and is an active member of editorial group of Urban Future group KKH. Previously she was tutor at Generative Component (GC) design workshops in KTH 2007, lecturer in Geometrical Rationalization for Fabrication course 2006-2007 in KTH, designer and architect at Artiulek 2006-2008, the active member of research and development at LUCT 2003-2004.
The architecture studio, Design & Making seeks the contemporary architecture as a constructional craft. The aim of the studio is to investigate the continuity between form and construction through the hybrid, digital and physical, tectonics in architecture. Through the concept of tectonics, this studio integrates the knowledge of material property, skill, technology, and construction in architectural design. Mania Aghaei Meibodi together with Hamia Aghaiemeybodi from KTH School of Architecture, teach the studio.
