503 ITCN - Innovativt TräCentrum Norr

The project will provide a basis for development of a new TräCentrum North which focuses on innovation through widening, deepening and increased collaboration. The center will focus on demand-oriented and industry-related research and development with a focus on innovation. The activities will benefit the wood products industry and timber construction and community stakeholders in these areas.

Funding: This project was funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the County Administrative Board of Norrbotten, Västerbotten Region, Skellefteå, Piteå Municipality and LTU.


TräCentrum north, TCN, is a well-established regional research center in Luleå University engaged Fol-operation with the aim to create regional growth. To the Center affiliated parties are forest ownership and sawmill companies from central and northern Sweden as well as leading representatives of industrial wood construction ochoffentlig sector.

A further development of existing TCN is important for the development of both regional and national wood manufacture.


The project will help create regional and national growth through strong competitiveness of traväruforetag and its suppliers by contributing to higher processing levels and the development of new products or vidareutveckliilg existing. A developed innovation lays the foundation for this.


Together with companies active in the industry to visions, strategies and precise plans and objectives of commercial, technical and horizontal criteria developed. The new innovative TräCentrum North will thus strengthen the competitiveness and growth of the business community in the wood sector.
