Problems in a kiln reflected mostly in the process parameters deviate from the norm, or that you miss målfuktkvoten. Drying operators limited time and the large number of wood dries, most sawmills have today makes it very difficult for operators to have time to correct for these process deviations.
Another factor that complicates the situation is that it very often lack information about the timber to be dried, eg the moisture content of the wood is. To avoid the risk of delivering too wet wood from the dryer, it is common to instead wipe the wood too much. This behavior is, however, results in a larger deformations, cracks more, higher energy consumption and ¬ lost drying capacity.
This project will investigate the additional information that the weighing of raw timber packages could provide. It is hoped that package weighing shall give a signal to the dryer operator at greater variations in the raw material, depending on such abnormal moisture, so that to take the correct action.
Data from package weighing shall be used as input in the drought simulators to create adapted ¬ sa the drying schedules by the timber to be dried. With the help of continuous simulations during drying is also drying schedule can be adapted by any process deviations.
