834 Butt-jointed boards, shift lengths

Published: 7 March 2013

The projects goal is to find the relationship between shift length and strength / stiffness for butt-jointed boards.

Area: Industrial wood construction
Budget: 150 000 SEK
Schedule: February - December 2013
Project Manager: Peter Jacobson, Martinson Träbroar

Funding: ERDF

Background, purpose

Today, there are three criteria that provide a minkrav on shift length between butt joints in adjacent beams can be applied for carrying capacity is reduced by a factor of 0.8. However, today made different interpretations of these criteria and the wording of Eurocode is unclear. The project's objective is to find the relationship between shift length and strength / stiffness. That is, one can choose the length and offset correction factor, short shift length greater reduction in load capacity and stiffness.
