Place Innovation in tourism

The project aims to explore and develop place innovation as a theoretical and practical concept to further develop the tourism industry in northern Sweden. The project is managed in collaboration between researchers, industry and society.

The project explores how place innovation can contribute to the understanding and promotion of attractive tourism destinations and tourism activities, in collaboration between academia, industry and society. The project is based on practical examples and experiences from tourism companies, destination companies, municipalities and architects/designers in Swedish Lapland.

The project is managed 2015-2017 in collaboration between Luleå University of Technology, The Swedish Industrial Design Foundation, Piteå Science Park and companies, municipalities and organizations in tourism. The project is funded by The R&D Fund of the Swedish Tourism and Hospitality Industry (BFUF).
