Equal focus in business development yields results

Published: 14 April 2022

The collaboration platform Gender Contact Point at Luleå University of Technology makes it easier for companies, authorities and other organizations to take part in, and benefit from the university's research results and knowledge, as well as participate in projects in gender, gender equality, diversity and innovation.

– Working on projects is one thing – but it is when the result lives on that it really counts. It's great to see when research responds to real needs, in this case a more equal IT industry, says Paula Wennberg, former project manager.

One of the parties in Gender Contact Point is the company Tromb, which works with digital business development. Tromb and its sister company Substorm contribute their expertise in our joint projects, for example in Gender Smart Arena. The Gender Smart Arena project was started with the objective to create an innovative collaborative environment within practical gender mainstreaming, and tools for it. During the project, they developed their gender equality work, including in the recruitment process. The collaboration with Tromb has been ongoing since 2015 and today Tromb with Substrom is a group with about 100 employees.

The background to the collaboration is the starting point that equal companies actually get a better end product.

– If companies and organizations take advantage of a greater diversity of expertise and driving forces in the development of new products and services, it contributes to a more deserving business model, concludes Paula Wennberg.
