Shortly before the end of the year, the Regional Fund project Wireless Innovation Arena was granted. The project aims to create the conditions for the region's small and medium-sized companies to pursue innovation linked to the introduction of the new 5G technology. An important part of the project is to establish the test environment 5G Innovation Hub North on the university's campus in Luleå.
Now representatives of the university together with Ericsson, Telia and Akademiska hus have begun planning prior to the construction of this test environment.
- It is great fun that we have started the practical work, says Karl Andersson, project manager, assistant professor and tf. operational manager at the Center for Distance -spanning Technology.
Two possible sites have been identified and the group are now working on one of them as main alternative.
- We work very closely with our partners and are now working for a quick start-up process in the spring, Karl continues.
