Exchange of experience with Denmark

Published: 11 March 2019

The Mayor and the municipal executive from Middelfart municipality, Denmark, visited Luleå and CDT in February.

Mayor Johannes Lundsfryd Jensen and municipal manager Steen Vinderslev visited Luleå for a few days in February and met Luleå municipality to exchange experiences with, among others, municipal councilor Niklas Nordström and municipal director Mikael Lekfalk. Host of the visit was Luleå municipality's strategist for International Affairs Natalia Golubeva.

The guests then went to Luleå University of Technology with CDT's Jan-Olov Johansson as host. For two hours, visitors gained insight into CDT's and LTU's work for the university's collaboration with industry and society, something they specifically asked for, and already had prior knowledge of Luleå Technical University's good results in the collaboration area. Professor Marcus Liwicki gave an interesting insight into the research front in the AI area, George Nikolakopoulos with his team demonstrated autonomous drone control, and Kåre Synnes, Gunilla Isaksson and Anneli Nyman told about the planned activities in the newly started all activity lab.

A curiosity in this context is the distances in the Nordic countries. The visitors had traveled 1748 kilometers almost straight north to get to Luleå. Had they traveled as far south, they had almost ended up in Rome!
