JVTC´s mission statement is to engage with its stakeholders from the industry to conduct applicable R&I in operations and maintenance in order to strengthen the rail transport system. Through research and involvement in the innovation process, JVTC contributes to the railway industry with better concepts, tools and methods. Through our effective results, JVTC is now an established part of the national and international research alliances.
JVTC is also considered to be an attractive partner who purposefully acts towards Swedish railway industry and Swedish railway transports becoming a world leader in efficiency, quality and flexibility.
The scientific competencies are mainly the Head of Subject, professors and researchers at LTU institutions. Our expertise includes the entire maintenance process, with emphasis on RAMS4 (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Sustainability, Safety, Security and Support Ability), LCC (Life Cycle Cost), risk, maintenance limits, eMaintenance and the development of maintenance strategies where methods like RAMS and LCC are interwoven applicable to a whole. Other areas of expertise are integration between data sources, analysis, maintenance history, management (management), and procurement.
What is unique about JVTC is the location, access to real-time data from the railway system, and cooperation with one of the largest research groups in operation and maintenance technology. A testbed for railway is established on the Iron Ore Line and the Haparanda track.
