Duration: 2016-2018

This project aims to automate the inspection of rail fasteners, defect insulation joints and other rail defects, using a robust system based on magnetic field variations measurement. The project will create value in the form of reduced time for maintenance inspections and increased information for maintenance decisions. The value mainly lies in: Fewer manual inspections, freeing capacity in the track; Increased number of automated, inspections (also in winter time), providing increased security and better maintenance decisions. The project will develop algorithms to detect the anomalies or defects. The measurements will be performed on a specially built test track at LTU.
