Research projects
The strategic focus of the railway research programs are to develop new tools, methods and models that will facilitate innovative solutions to railway problems related to the railway system.
The research programs are based on three significant key areas: availability, capacity and safety on the existing network by effective operation and maintenance of infrastructure and rolling stocks. The goal of the Railway Research Programs are to enhance the effectiveness of operation and maintenance process in a mixed traffic situation leading to higher availability, safety and track capacity for the existing network.
Considerable research is being undertaken to study the track maintenance and renewal issues with focus on grinding, lubrication, maintenance strategies and track degradation. The JVTC has also initiated a Human Factors research program in order to gain knowledge of human factors related issues and challenges in railway maintenance.
