Appreciated lecture by Fredrik Larsson

Published: 30 November 2017

Fredrik Larsson, this years alumn, held a long-awaited lecture for physiotherapist students at Luleå University of Technology. About 80 students came to listen to his trip from Luleå University of Technology to his role as a physiotherapist for IFK Göteborg and the Swedish national team in football.

– It was inspiring to get some new perspectives and, above all, see that you can get where you want. It's all about getting a foot in the door and work hard, says David Johansson, Avesta, from the physiotherapist programme at Luleå University of Technology.

The lecture hall at Career Center was quickly filled by students who wanted to listened to Fredrik Larsson's story from the train journey up to Luleå, the dream of becoming a football pro to what everyday life looks like with the challenges in the tough football world.

– As a physiotherapist in football teams, you are involved in both injuries and personal problems that may affect a player. The big reward is when a player is back, after several months of rehabilitation and hard training, and delivers on the field. It's a special feeling, says Fredrik Larsson.

During the lecture he wrapped up small anecdotes and stories that attracted many laughs.

– I hope that I can inspire someone and convey that it is possible to get what you want if you dare to stand up for yourself, says Fredrik Larsson.

Ida Sivander from Falkenberg from the physiotherapist program appreciated the lecture.
– I hope he will come back and have another lecture, because I'd like to hear him tell me more about the physiotherapeutic parts.
