Prestigious scholarship to elite sports students
Three students at Luleå University of Technology will receive the The Swedish Sports Federation's and Svenska Spel's elite sports scholarship for 2020-2021: sailor Vilma Bobeck, racing driver Andreas Bäckman and ice hockey player Sara Grahn.
– I am grateful and honored. It helps a lot to get this scholarship and not have to think so much about finances. It means a lot, says Sara Grahn, who is studying the Bachelor Programme in Health Guidance and is a goalkeeper in Luleå Hockey and the national ice hockey team.
The other two students at Luleå University of Technology who receive the prestigious scholarship are Andreas Bäckman, a successful racing driver who is studying the Master Programme in Industrial Design Engineering, and sailor Vilma Bobeck, student at the Master Programme in Architectural Engineering.
Sports psychology and sports medicine
A total of 60 Swedish athletes, representing 35 different sports, will receive the elite sports scholarship 2020-2021. In addition to SEK 50,000 each, the active members are also offered support from the The Swedish Sports Federation in areas such as sports psychology and sports medicine.
– The level of the scholarship recipients has seldom been so high as this year, sports wise and academically. Several fellows have already competed at the European Championships, the World Cup and the Olympics. There are several championship medalists in the group, says Liselotte Ohlson, head of the department for elite sports support at The Swedish Sports Federation.
