"Luleå University of Technology is perfect for those who like nature and outdoor life"

Published: 13 November 2020

There are many places to visit both for spontaneous day / evening trips or for a longer weekend, Marcus Planting-Gyllenbåga says.

- Right next to the university area is a park where a hiking trail to the nature reserve Gammelstadsviken starts, a popular place to take a walk. For longer walks and a beautiful view, I can recommend Bälingeberget about 20 km from the University of Luleå. A mountain that offers fantastic nature with remnants of the ice age and a view that is well worth the visit. There are several barbecue areas here, so do not forget to bring something to throw on the grill, says Marcus.

If you like skiing, Riksgränsen / Björkliden is a must! Perhaps Sweden's best skiing for those who love powder and off-piste. If you have experience of summit hikes, you have almost endless descent possibilities and guaranteed untouched powder skiing. There are direct trains from Luleå to the national border, which makes it very easy to get there.

Are you one who prefers skis in the long run instead there is Ormberget. Together with Stil Längd, you can also train together with leaders, every Thursday, to get help with development. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced. In addition to cross-country skiing, Ormberget also offers alpine skiing. The best thing is that Ormberget is around the corner from the university area. When the snow is not on the ground, nice running tracks are offered.

The best thing about studying at Luleå University of Technology: The community as the majority have moved long distances, the proximity to nature.
Do not miss : The ice road in the archipelago in winter. Northern lights and sunset from Bälingeberget.
