"After a few years in the manufacturing industry, I felt it was time for further education"

Published: 9 March 2018

Anton Niemi, 28, from Luleå is studying the Bachelor Programme in Maintenance Engineering at Luleå University of Technology.

Why did you choose to study maintenance technology?

After a few years in the manufacturing industry, I felt it because it was time to do my  further education. Maintenance Engineering was what interested me most of the crowd Bachelor programs Luleå University of Technology could offer. The subject of the operation and maintenance spanning many sectors, leading to greater job opportunities. That it is a possibility to study on distance makes it possible to be more flexible, since I work part alongside their studies.

What are your plans after studying?

In the current situation my plans are clear, I will focus on finding a stimulating job where I can work with operational and maintenance issues, and I am then happy to live here in Luleå and hopefully find a job here.

Do you have any tips for future students at Luleå University of Technology?

If there is a question of an engineering program, I think that one should repeat subjects of mathematics and physics before course start if it was a long time since last time, then everything will constitute a large part of the courses during the first year. Rehearsal will likely reduce the risk of being left behind, leading to a more comfortable ride.
