The selection is based on 20-285 credits



Course Aim
Apply, critically evaluate and argue for qualitative research designs and methods relevant to occupational therapy
Explain, contrast and argue for different qualitative research designs and methods in relation to scientific theoretical perspectives.
Design a qualitative data collection and analysis for a question relevant to occupational therapy, with in-depth discussion of methodological choices and ethical considerations.

Research-ethical aspects of qualitative research designs
Scientific theoretical grounds for qualitative methodology
Gender equality and diversity perspectives in qualitative research

Realization
Each course occasion´s language and form is stated and appear on the course page on Luleå University of Technology's website.
The course is given using distance learning methodology, and is web-based. The studies require computer skills and internet access, as well as a headset and a webcam. The course has its pedagogical basis in LTU’s pedagogical idea. This working method is founded on the idea that each student should be inspired to become engaged, as well as independent and active learning that challenges her/his abilities. The student shall actively seek out and solve problems through exploratory and critically reflective working methods. The course is read together with physiotherapy master’s students with subject specialisation. The teaching is conducted through literature studies, lectures, seminars, oral and written presentations and independent project work.

Examination
If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
Achievement of the course is evaluated continuously, and to obtain a passing grade the student must have fulfilled the objectives of the course. Achievement of the objectives is assessed individually in writing and orally through assignments and seminars.

The grading criteria for G (Pass) and VG (Pass with distinction) are specified in the study guide.
