More information about English language requirements Course Aim The student will be able to: Design and develop digital archives, based on information systems developmentIdentify problems and possibilities with different approaches in different organisational contextsDescribe and analyze how long-term perspectives and organisational concern influence the development of digital repositories and suggest solutions to the identified problems Contents Design and development of digital archives, including frameworks, standards and principles suitable in a long-term perspective. Information systems development models and methods are discussed in the context of long-term digital preservation and digital curation organisations. The student will be able to identify problems and possibilities with different approaches in different organisational contexts, and suggest solutions to defined problems.Realization Teaching is in English and on Internet for distance students or at campus for the students living here. IT support: Learning management system (Fronter), video conference system, e-mail and phone.Examination Written exam covers design of digital archives and analysis of how long-term perspectives influence the design and development. Group assignments cover design and development of digital archives as well as identification of problem regarding long-term digital preservation in an organizational context, and analysis of these problems can be addressed. Remarks Technical Requirements: access to PC with Windows XP, microphone, Web cam and permission to install software. Internet connection (minimum 0,5 Mbps). Students must register to the courses themselves or contact the IES educational administration not later than 5 days after the quarter commences. Failure to do so can result in the place being lost.
