The course provides basic knowledge of Operations Research, i.e. the application of modern mathematical modeling for planning and analysis of various unit operations in a system so all operations are performed at the right time with optimal cost.
The course includes the topics of Problem modeling (art of modelling, and development and construction of models), Linear programming (formulation and graphical solution to different optimization problems, Simplex method, and transportation model), Network problems (including PERT-CPM) and Queuing models (basic elements of queuing model and queuing decision models).
The students will work individually and in groups to apply Operations Research techniques to solve real-life problems.
