Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language + Swedish upper secondary school courses Physics 1b1/1a, Mathematics 2a/2b/2c (specifik entry A7). Or: Swedish upper secondary school courses Physics A, Mathematics B (specifik entry 7)

The selection is based on final school grades or Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test.

Course Aim

After course completion, the student should be able to demonstrate:
  • theoretical knowledge in operating systems, their internal construction and work procedures, including single/multiple user systems
  • practical competence in installation and configuratione of operating systems
  • an ability to compare different types of operating systems

Basics of operating systems: processes and their states, memory management, in and out-put, file systems. Studies of existing operating systems both in the view of architecture and usage. Installation and configuration.

The course consists of lectures and laborations.

If there is a decision on special educational support, in accordance with the Guideline Student's rights and obligations at Luleå University of Technology, an adapted or alternative form of examination can be provided.
Written exam and compulsory laboration tasks.
