Entry requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements for first cycle studies you must have successfully completed upper secondary education and documented skills in English language and D0010B Maintenance Strategy and D0012B Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCC)

The selection is based on 1-165 credits.



Course Aim
Upon completion of the course the student
  • Technical understanding for different infrastructure
  • Understand how maintenance for different infrastructure is planned, conducted and analysed, so that the student can work in a maintenance organisation.
  • Understand and practically apply measurement methods for inspection and condition monitoring of infrastructure.
  • Analyse and decide what advantages and challenges within a specific infrastructure are necessary to assist and develop maintenance solutions.

Contents
The course contains:
  • Technical descriptions and a mapping of systems within different infrastructure (for example road and rail).
  •  Maintenance processes, maintenance strategies (FU, AU, CBM, etc.) and maintenance activities for different infrastructure
  • Methods for inspection and condition monitoring (i.e. vibration measurements, stretch measures and tests for structural integrity)

Realization

Kursen ges på campus med möjlighet att delta på distans. Obligatorisk närvaro vid presentation av inlämningsuppgifter.

Kursen genomförs genom att förinspelade teoretiska moment varvas med diskussionspass enligt det ”flippade klassrummet”. Det förutsätts att studenten förbereder sig inför diskussionspassen genom att gå igenom anvisat material. Ett aktivt deltagande på lektionen förväntas.

Kunskaper från kursen tillämpas på en typ av infrastruktur. Dessa moment berör bland annat tillståndskontroll av infrastrukturer, exempelvis väg och komponenter i ett järnvägssystem.


Examination

To obtain a passing grade in the course must the written assignments, lab, project report, and oral presentation be completed with a passing grade.
